چکیده

During the last 5 years JPL has examined a number of concepts 2 for robotically controlled balloons or aerobots. The Venus Geoscience Aerobot (VGA) concept uses reversible fluid altitude control to carry out repeated descents to the surface of Venus. This concept uses frozen water to keep the electronics cool. The balloon must periodically go to high altitude so that the water can be refrozen. Balloon materials would be required to withstand the rigors of the Venus atmosphere, including passes through sulfuric acid clouds and survival at temperatures up to 460 oC. Polybenzoxazole (PBO) and polyimidobenzoxazole (PIBO), materials developed by Dow Chemical Corporation, appear very promising. For example, weight loss measurements of PBO and PIBO films have been made with less than 2-percent weight loss observed over a 4-hour period at 460 oC, and mechanical properties appear persistent up to high temperatures, although the high temperature limits have not been determined.

Aerobot airdata measurement for planetary exploration

For those planets and moons that support an atmosphere (e.g. Mars, Venus, Titan and Jupiter), flying robots, or aerobots, are likely to provide a practical solution to the problem of extended planetary surface coverage for terrain mapping, and surface/sub-surface composition surveying. Not only could such devices be used for sub-orbital mapping of terrain regions, but they could be used also to...

Autonomous Flight Control for a Titan Exploration Aerobot

Robotic lighter-than-air vehicles, or aerobots, provide a strategic platform for the exploration of planets and moons with an atmosphere, such as Venus, Mars, Titan and the gas giants. Aerobots have modest power requirements, extended mission duration and long traverse capabilities. They can execute regional surveys, transport and deploy scientific instruments and in-situ laboratory facilities ...

A survey: Glucose sedative effect in neonates during Venus blood sampling

Background: The number of invasive procedures performed in newborns admitted in neonatal units is very high. Nonpharmacologic interventions are valuable alternatives for pain relief during minor procedures in neonates. The aim of this study was to assess the analgesic effect of orally administered glucose with different concentration in neonate using a validated behavioral acute pain rating sca...

Directed aerial robot explorers for planetary exploration

Global Aerospace Corporation (GAC) is developing a revolutionary system architecture for exploration of planetary atmospheres and surfaces from atmospheric altitudes. The work is supported by the NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts (NIAC). The innovative system architecture relies upon the use of Directed Aerial Robot Explorers (DAREs), which essentially are longduration-flight autonomous ball...
